Los Angeles is synonymous with Hollywood. With production studios running at almost 100 percent capacity, the need for new soundstages is in full effect. Developers have responded by breathing new life into old Hollywood studios as well as building new campuses, both of which are creating vital creative hubs for the community and not the insular enclosed campuses of the past. New studio development is also activating investment, jobs and placemaking in communities that have not traditionally benefitted, such as South and Southeast Los Angeles. This evolution of the studio production ecosystem is occurring as we speak, and what is happening here in La La Land can be applied to other creative cities around the world.
