Innovative Dwellings creates affordable infill housing by identifying opportunities for development in physical and financial spaces often overlooked. Through collaboration among for-profit and non-profit businesses, service providers and builders, homeowners, and entrepreneurs, we can offset the country’s current overwhelming need for additional housing units by pursuing development of small-scale housing projects together. We will review our challenges and lessoned learned while creating affordable infill housing in the form of accessory dwelling units, container housing, panelized and modular construction, adaptive reuse, and more. And we will also discuss the addition of on-site service provision for tenants from special-needs populations (i.e., veterans, unhoused, reentry, or recovery).
