Brigitte Ogne is a Social Worker and Nonprofit Manger with Volunteers of America National Services, developing innovative affordable housing solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness. Her leadership experience includes 15 years working alongside high-risk populations from foster youth and children with intellectual disabilities, to seniors, veterans, chronically homeless and the formerly incarcerated. She has successfully launched three multimillion dollar pilot projects providing temporary and permanent housing and job training services to people in need. She has also partnered with numerous nonprofit and governmental agencies to restore and improve quality of life for underserved communities in natural disaster affected areas. Brigitte holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Medicine and a Master’s degree in Social Work. “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Innovative Dwellings: Lessons Learned Creating Affordable Infill Housing

Innovative Dwellings creates affordable infill housing by identifying opportunities for development in physical and financial spaces often overlooked. Through collaboration among for-profit and non-profit businesses, service providers and builders, homeowners, and entrepreneurs, we can offset the country’s current overwhelming need for additional housing units by pursuing development of small-scale housing projects together. We will review our challenges and lessoned learned while creating affordable infill housing in the form of accessory dwelling units, container housing, panelized and modular construction, adaptive reuse, and more.
