Alan Joined ULI as CEO Asia Pacific in 2023, bringing 30+ years of regional strategy consulting, operations improvement, and technology transformation experience across diverse sectors including energy, telecommunications, information technology, clean technologies and other industries. As ULI Asia Pacific CEO, he leads a team of 40 professionals serving more than 3,000 ULI members and communities in Australia, China, HK SAR, India, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea.
Prior to joining ULI, Alan lived and operated in the China trenches for over 20 years serving private equity, multinationals and Chinese clients with AT Kearney, EY and IBM. He co-founded a start-up the China Greentech Initiative that was later sold to Hank Paulson, former U.S. Secretary of Treasury and Founder of the Paulson Institute. Alan led AmCham China based in Beijing for six tumultuous years (2016-22) navigating the many complex challenges of US-China relations and COVID-19 on behalf of 900 US companies operating in China.
He was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska where he became an early fan of hometown heroes Warren Buffett and the late Charlie Munger. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and a graduate of Yale University.
