JFAK Architects

Alice Kimm co-founded John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects (JFAK) in 1996 in Los Angeles. JFAK’s work spans educational, institutional, and commercial ventures as well as housing and installations. Alice holds a B.A. in Economics from Cornell, an M.Arch from Harvard, and is a former Fulbright Scholar. A longtime educator, she was Director of Undergraduate Architecture at USC from 2010-2014. Alice was named a 2004 Emerging Voice by The Architectural League of New York and elevated to Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 2010. In 2020, Alice co-founded Open Source Homelessness Initiative (OSHI), a nonprofit that uses centralized information, resources, and inspirations to accelerate innovations in eradicating homelessness.

Confronting Homelessness and Accelerating Implementation: Data, Design, Dignity

This panel will be a direct, real-talk dialogue on homelessness in the United States that briefly summarizes the myriad causes of rising homelessness, then dives into innovative solutions to eradicate it with ethics, policy, and action. It will explore a range of housing and other innovative solutions locally in Los Angeles and throughout the country. The panelists, all recognized industry leaders, will describe how each is addressing the epidemic with actionable and unique efforts.
