William (Billy) Riggs, Ph.D., AICP, LEED AP is an expert in urban planning and design of future cities. His research work focuses primarily on urban technology, automated mobility and future transportation, and sustainable urban development in the face of climate change. He is a professor and program director at the University of San Francisco School of Management, the co-Director of the Autonomous Vehicles and the City Initiative, and a partner at the company INTNCITY. He has worked in venture capital and management consulting and been an advisor to multiple companies and start-ups in the ESG and environmental, technology, engineering, smart mobility and urban development sectors. This follows two decades of experience working as an urban planner, economist, and engineer. He has over 100 publications and has been featured in multiple global media outlets such as Economist, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Washington Post, PBS, TF1, the Atlantic and more. Billy is the author of, End of the Road: Reimagining the Street as the Heart of the City and has been a fellow with the National Science Foundation. He has held many public service roles, including over 10 years as a local planning commissioner and an elected member of local school board. He sits on the Transportation Research Board Committee on the Landscape and the Built Environment.
