Nancy Watkins is a Principal and Consulting Actuary with Milliman in San Francisco. As a consultant, her engagements include insurance pricing, use of complex models and new data sources for insurance innovation, independent model review, evaluation of risk mitigation options to promote insurance affordability, and exploring ways to communicate risk to consumers to promote climate resilience and long-term insurance access. Widely known as a thought leader in the areas of property insurance availability and affordability, Nancy leads the global Milliman Climate Resilience Initiative. She was appointed by the U.S. Treasury Financial Stability Oversight Council as a member of its Climate-related Financial Risk Advisory Committee and serves on the Private Market Insights Advisory Group of the nonprofit Insurance For Good. Nancy formerly served on the California Office of the State Fire Marshal Risk Modeling Advisory Workgroup of the Wildfire Mitigation Advisory Committee, the United Nations Capital Development Fund's Climate Insurance Linked Resilient Infrastructure Finance Working Group, and the Advisory Board of the Wharton Risk Center Policy Incubator. She was awarded the American Academy of Actuaries Outstanding Volunteerism Award for her participation on the Flood Insurance Work Group.
