Ms. Harriet Tregoning

Senior Advisor New Urban Mobility alliance (NUMO), housed at the World Resources Institute

Harriet Tregoning Bio Harriet Tregoning is the founding Director of NUMO, the New Urban Mobility alliance, a collaborative effort aimed at ensuring that transportation and infrastructure investments have the greatest possible impact on the health and prosperity of communities, increasing housing near transit, affordable access, resilience, and low-carbon connections to jobs and daily needs. She recently completed an assignment as Senior Advisor on Land Use in the Office of the Secretary, at the US Department of Transportation. Harriet previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama Administration. At HUD, she initiated $1 Billion National Disaster Resilience Competition and supported communities in building strong and resilient economies. Harriet is the former Director of the D.C. Office of Planning, a former Secretary of Planning for the State of Maryland, and she served on both the Transportation Planning Board for the Washington Area Council of Governments and on the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Board. Early in her career, Harriet worked at EPA regional offices in Dallas and San Francisco, as well as at EPA Headquarters where she founded the Smart Growth Network.
