Frans de Witte (Rotterdam, NL - 1973) is an architect and partner at architecture firm MVRDV, having first joined the firm in 1996. As director of MVRDV's Americas studio, he oversees projects in North and South America but also in the Netherlands. In recent years, he has led the completion of projects such as The Canyon, a mixed-use residential and office building in San Francisco's Mission Rock development; Radio Hotel and Tower, an eye-catchingly colourful hotel and office building near the northernmost point of Manhattan; and Matrix ONE in Amsterdam, a laboratory and office building that is fully demountable, so that over 90 percent of its components can be reused at the end of its life. His current projects include six residential towers known as The Hills in Ecuador, The Modernist in Rotterdam, residential developments in Boston, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, and laboratory buildings in Toronto and Shanghai.
