Ms. Cherie Akers

Cherie Akers has over 29 years of experience in the land development and the urban planning industry in both the public and private sectors. She is a strategic and dynamic leader with a proven track record of directing cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams with effective interpersonal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Cherie has been the project manager for numerous large scales and high-profile land development projects. She is skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, officials, developers, and the public to build consensus for land development projects and other local and regional land planning initiatives. She specializes in the preparation of long-range strategic land use plans and facilitation of land acquisitions for large property owners and major developers, including due diligence, entitlements, strategic planning, master planning, development regulations, transportation planning, site design, community outreach and government affairs. Cherie's experience focuses on land planning for large mixed-use communities, long-range land use plans, comprehensive plans, and residential and commercial/industrial master planned developments. In addition, she has extensive experience in airport development master planning and land development. She has been the project manager for several real estate development projects and strategic land use plans for properties surrounding airports (airside and landside) and that require close coordination with FAA and surrounding jurisdictions. Cherie also serves as a Co-Chair for the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) Airport Development Council.
