Fifty years ago, Las Colinas emerged as Dallas’s first great suburban development. With plans to become both a large employment center and a balanced community for the area’s most ambitious residents, it was a vision of the future as formulated in the early 1970s. Since then, Las Colinas has evolved as American development has evolved and is transforming into an 18-hour city and entertainment destination. Likewise, several decades later and just to the north, Cypress Waters began to emerge from the site of a decommissioned power plant to attract a variety of businesses and residents to an amenity-rich lakefront community. Now these communities representing two generations of mixed-use, master-planned development are striving to integrate the needs of office workers and residents. Through public/private partnerships and innovative spaces, they have incorporated amenities that create a balanced sense of place. Tour iconic Williams Square, Toyota Music Factory, and more in Las Colinas, followed by The Sound entertainment district, innovative office space, and public amenities in Cypress Waters. Lunch provided.
