This session looks at the expert master planning behind the communities of Summerlin in Las Vegas and Teravalis in the Phoenix West Valley—two of the Howard Hughes communities driving long-term sustainable development in the Sun Belt as the area continues to be the overwhelming recipient of domestic migration. Both Nevada and Arizona have experienced more than 10% annual job growth over the last 5 years, more than double the US average of 4.1%, defining both states as locations for opportunity, growth and success. A look at Summerlin by President Frank Stephan will explore the community’s ability to offer an exceptional quality of life in a business-friendly environment. Heath Melton, President of the Phoenix region for Howard Hughes, will look at the significant opportunity and responsibility of building a new community form the ground up, including the need for innovative technological advancements when it comes to water conservation and sustainable development.
