As the urban center of Bunker Hill, Grand Avenue is home to a variety of cultural institutions, high-end residential buildings, and popular restaurants and cafés. At the northern end of the avenue, visitors can find the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by famed architect Frank Gehry, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and The Broad Museum. The Music Center, which includes the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, and Mark Taper Forum, is also located on Grand Avenue. In 2012, the 12-acre Grand Park was opened to connect Bunker Hill to the Civic Center and create pedestrian-friendly amenities with year-round programming. The most recent addition, an investment from the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID), is the “Grand Avenue Augmented” installation that integrates new technology with original art along the downtown hub to further immerse visitors in the public art realm. Explore the intersection of the digital and the physical realms in this walking tour, with all augmented-reality technology provided.
