Healthy Places Housing – Multifamily Sustainable Development

With a new generation of renters caring more deeply about their climate impacts and the COVID-19 pandemic catalyzing more consumer interest in health, the multifamily sector is ripe to be a leader in sustainability and health and wellness. However, because of such factors as resident turnover, lack of utility data transparency, the split incentive, and difficulty tracking health metrics, multifamily properties often tend to lag in moving the needle on these topics. In this session, hear from multifamily experts who have not only made energy, sustainability, and health a core business strategy, but also have seen financial and energy savings and resident retention from their efforts. Panelists will cover some of the common pitfalls, what got them started down this path, how they achieved C-suite buy-in, and what their next steps are in this new COVID “normal.”
