Jim serves as CEO for APG Companies in Raleigh, North Carolina where his responsibilities include: company vision and strategy, business development, resident guitarist, and community engagement. Prior to founding Anthony & Co. in 1987, Jim served as a broker with Grubb & Ellis Company in Los Angeles, California, from 1979 to 1983, winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 1980. In 1983, Jim moved to Raleigh to be Leasing and Management Director for NAI Carolantic Realty. In 1987 he founded Anthony & Co. In 1998 he acquired Allenton Commercial in Durham, NC and merged it into Anthony & Co.  In 2010 Anthony & Co. joined Colliers, until exiting to independence in 2020 as APG Advisors.   

Since that transaction, the Company has created three additional divisions:    AGP Capital (investments), APG Development, and APG Ventures.    In addition to building a successful commercial real estate portfolio across diverse property types, Jim has one of the most distinguished real estate investment track records in the Southeastern United States. His expertise is sought after by institutional investors, business owners, lending institutions, developers, and government officials. Jim is a former Triangle Area Commercial Realtor of the year, President of the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors, member of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, former board member of the Wake County Board of Economic Development, and is a founding partner of Jobs for Life. He is recognized as a thought leader on the topic of housing and as a developer of affordable and conventional housing in four Triangle counties, with multiple innovative projects in his development pipeline to address the increasingly critical local housing shortage.
