Irena Savakova, RIBA, LEED AP BD+C is global design principal for international planning, architecture, engineering and interiors firm LEO A DALY, and director of design for the firm’s Washington D.C. studio. She is an award-winning design architect with 30 years of experience leading the design of new signature freestanding administrative facilities for a variety of educational, corporate, commercial and government clients. She began her design career in Bulgaria, and has practiced the European Union and the United States. Savakova teaches and mentors architecture students at her alma mater, the University of Maryland, and serves as a peer reviewer for the General Services Administration’s Design Excellence program. She sits on the ULI Washington Placemaking Initiative Council.
